April 24, 2019Discrimination Complaints
On March 21, 2019, Alaska’s Lieutenant Governor Kevin Meyer notified Alaska’s Governor, Marti Buscaglia, about permanent regulations that modify the state’s fair employment practices law as implemented by the Alaska Commission for Human Rights. Subsequently, employees or applicants may now file a complaint that an employer violated the law within 300 days (rather than 180 days) with the commission after:
- The date of a single, alleged violation; or
- The end of continuous, alleged violations.
Additionally, complaints may also now be filed electronically.
The regulations are effective April 20, 2019.
