State Employees’ Donated Leave Program

On September 29, 2017, the Delaware Governor signed legislation (H.B. 258) that allows a state officer or employee to donate sick leave or annual leave without being required to donate both or to donate in equal amounts.

The law is effective immediately.

Delaware Family and Medical Leave

On September 9, 2017, Delaware Governor John Carney signed legislation (H.B. 64), which
provides that a mother who is a full-time state employee may use up to six weeks of unpaid leave following the discharge of her newborn(s) from the hospital, even if her federal Family and Medical Leave Act benefits have been exhausted.

The law is effective immediately.
