On March 28, 2018, Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds signed legislation (H.F. 2383) amending the state’s law relating to private employer alcohol-testing policies. Specifically, an employer’s written policy for alcohol testing must include a standard for alcohol concentration that is deemed to be a violation of the policy and must be at a measurement of no less than .02 (rather than .04) grams of alcohol per 210 liters of breath, or its equivalent.
The law is effective July 1, 2018.
