Discrimination Based on Gender Identity

On June 8, 2018, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signed legislation (H.B. 1319) adding gender identity as a protected class under the state’s Law Against Discrimination and thereby prohibiting discrimination in employment, public accommodations, and housing on the basis of gender identity. The law defines gender identity as a person’s gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior, whether or not that gender-related identity, appearance, or behavior is different from that traditionally associated with the person’s physiology or assigned sex at birth.

The law is effective July 8, 2018.

Workers’ Compensation

On June 8, 2018, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signed legislation (H.B. 407) requiring workers’ compensation to cover prophylactic treatment for an identified occupational exposure.

The law is effective January 1, 2019.

Sunday Employment

On May 30, 2018, New Hampshire Governor Chris Sununu signed legislation (S.B. 417) adding the employees of a licensed recreation camp or a youth skill camp to the list of employees who are exempt from the state’s prohibition of Sunday employment.

The law is effective July 29, 2018.
