Random Drug Testing for Direct Care Staff Applicants and Employees
On October 6, 2017, New Jersey Governor Chris Christie signed legislation (A.B. 2503) requiring applicants for direct care staff member positions at facilities or programs requiring direct contact with individuals with developmental disabilities to undergo drug testing for controlled dangerous substances as a condition of employment. The law also requires current direct care staff members to submit to random drug testing for the same.
The law is effective May 1, 2018.
