May 7, 2018Collective Bargaining and Payroll Deductions
On April 24, 2018, Hawaii Governor David Ige signed legislation (H.B. 1725) requiring collective bargaining public employees to provide written notification to their exclusive representative to discontinue the payroll assignments 30 days prior to the anniversary of the representation agreement. The law also requires the employee’s exclusive representative to provide a copy of the notification to the employer within ten business days of its receipt.
The law became effective on April 24, 2018.
