June 18, 2018City of Duluth Earned Sick and Safe Time
On May 29, 2018, the Duluth City Code adopted an ordinance (No. 10571) establishing minimum standards for earned sick and safe time in the City of Duluth. According to the ordinance, employers with five or more employees working in the city will be required to provide earned sick and safe time as follows:
- At a rate of one hour for every 50 hours worked;
- Accrual capped at 64 hours a year;
- Use capped at 40 hours per year; and
- Carryover of earned but unused sick and safe time capped at 40 hours a year.
The ordinance takes effect on January 1, 2020.
